Russia Claims Capture of Strategic Donetsk Village

(MENAFN) Russian forces have claimed the seizure of yet another village in eastern Ukraine's war-ravaged Donetsk region Friday, signaling a relentless push deeper into fiercely contested Ukrainian territory.

Russia's Defense Ministry announced in an official statement that its troops have successfully captured the village of Pryiut, located approximately 25 kilometers — roughly 15.5 miles — southwest of the strategically vital city of Kramatorsk, a key urban stronghold in the region.

The claim marks yet another reported territorial gain for Moscow as Russian forces continue pressing forward along the volatile eastern front, where fighting has remained intense and unrelenting for months.

Ukrainian authorities have so far issued no immediate response or counter-statement addressing the Russian assertion.
