Wildfires Rapidly Spread Across Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Region

(MENAFN) The area affected by wildfires in Russia's Krasnoyarsk Territory expanded dramatically over the past day, with the total burned area rising to more than 30,000 hectares, according to regional authorities.

Reports said 97 active forest fires were recorded across the region on Sunday morning, covering approximately 30,306 hectares. By comparison, officials had reported 75 active fires affecting around 16,400 hectares a day earlier.

Authorities stated that, despite the rapid spread of the blazes, no towns or settlements are currently under threat.

The fires have affected seven districts within the vast Siberian territory, with the largest concentration of outbreaks located in the northern part of the region.

In response, officials have reinforced firefighting operations, increasing personnel in northern areas to about 1,100. Additional emergency crews and more than 300 airborne firefighters have also been deployed to assist in containment efforts.

According to reports, up to 30 aircraft and water transport vessels are being used daily to move personnel and equipment quickly to affected areas. Resources from Russia's emergency services have also been mobilized to support the operation.

Weather forecasters expect unusually high temperatures to continue for several more days, creating challenging conditions for firefighters. A forest fire state of emergency remains in effect throughout Krasnoyarsk Territory as authorities work to contain the growing number of blazes.
