Russia Sees Sharp Increase in Online Retail Sales
Domestic online stores and homegrown digital platforms continued to dominate the landscape, capturing 96.2 percent of all online purchases, according to data released by the Association of Internet Trade Companies. Cross-border transactions accounted for the remaining 3.8 percent, reflecting the continued preference of Russian consumers for locally based e-commerce platforms over foreign alternatives.
The figures also highlight Russia's broader retail transformation. Online sales represented 18.8 percent of the country's total retail turnover in 2025, a notable climb from 16.2 percent recorded just one year earlier in 2024, signaling that digital shopping is rapidly becoming the preferred mode of purchasing for millions of Russian consumers nationwide.
