Russia Reports Shooting Down 402 Ukrainian Drones in 24 Hours
(MENAFN) The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that its air defense systems successfully neutralized 402 Ukrainian drones and seven precision-guided aerial bombs within the last 24 hours.
According to the ministry, 91 of these drones were intercepted overnight, with the majority intercepted near the border areas of Belgorod and Kursk regions, while an additional eight were shot down over the Moscow region.
The intensity of drone assaults between Russia and Ukraine has surged sharply in recent days, reflecting escalating tensions and ongoing hostilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed this trend, stating on Monday that Russia launched 101 drones during the previous night alone. He further revealed that in the span of the past week, Ukrainian forces detected approximately 1,270 drones and 39 missiles launched by Russian forces.
This rapid escalation in drone activity marks a significant intensification in the conflict, with both sides increasingly relying on unmanned aerial vehicles to conduct attacks and reconnaissance missions along contested frontlines.
