Russia, Kyrgyzstan Offer Condolences After China Coal Mine Disaster

(MENAFN) Vladimir Putin and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov have both expressed condolences following a deadly coal mine gas explosion in northern China that killed at least 82 people, according to official statements released Saturday.

In separate messages addressed to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the two leaders conveyed sympathy for the victims and offered support to the families affected by the tragedy.

The Kremlin said Putin sent a telegram expressing sorrow and solidarity, asking that his condolences be passed on to the families of the deceased miners while also wishing a swift recovery to those injured.

“Please convey my sympathy and support to the families of the deceased miners, as well as my best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured,” Putin said, according to Russian officials.

Similarly, Zhaparov said he received the news “with deep sorrow” and expressed his country’s solidarity with China during the aftermath of the disaster.

“On behalf of the people of the Kyrgyz Republic and on my own behalf, I express my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, sharing their grief at their loss, and I also wish a speedy recovery to all those injured,” he said, according to the Kyrgyz presidential press service.
